Charles Ofori-Acquah
Independent Director
Mr. Charles Ofori-Acquah is the immediate past Chief Executive Officer of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana (CIB Ghana), where he provided strategic leadership and strengthened organisational performance, stakeholder engagement, and financial sustainability. During his tenure, he diversified the Institute’s income streams and introduced a just-in-time professional curriculum.
He is a seasoned Chartered Banker with over 30 years’ experience in the banking industry. He previously served as Executive Director of HFC Bank (now Republic Bank Ghana), with responsibility for retail and corporate banking strategy, policy implementation, and oversight of Treasury, International Trade Services, and Marketing. He played key roles in institutional innovation, including the establishment of new departments and development of treasury, corporate, and investment banking products.
Mr. Ofori-Acquah has served extensively on professional and industry bodies, including as a Council and Ethics Committee Member of CIB Ghana, Board Member of Republic Bank Ghana, and Secretary of the Alliance of African Institutes of Bankers. He currently chairs the Board of Trustees of Old Mutual Pension Funds Ghana and the Board of Directors of CAL Asset Management Limited, and serves on the boards of Republic Trust Company and CAL Real Estate Investment Trust Limited.
He holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Ghana and an Executive Master’s degree in Governance and Leadership from GIMPA. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana, a Member of the London Institute of Banking and Finance, and holds a Certification in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG).
